![]() It just feels boring, funneled and too linearized forcibly. It does not give you operating freedom and only wants you to operate in a specific way and in a specific order through forced linearization. I like creating my own way of doing things and this Metroidvania game design in its entirety clashes with my playstyle in everything and doesn’t offer the navigational game experience I wanted out of it. xD This cascading of learning abilities and readjusting yourself to try and understand what the game limited from you and try to rethink your playstyle based on what abilities the game is constantly drip feeding you just isn’t for me. And man, I am starting to think Metroidvanias just aren’t for me. And the boring purposeless exploration that just feels like walking through an empty world with no purpose because of the lack of narrative with only somber stuff that annoys me. Which gets super tedious on its own without the annoying movements by the enemies. Turns out even the backtracking itself, regardless of the combat, is annoying, because the platforming in this game is designed with a classical platforming mindset of making the platforming as annoying and requiring very tight actions as possible, on top of the bad combat because it’s bad by design and because the enemies respawn whenever you go in and out of areas, so you have to fight them all, all over again. That no longer canceled navigational environmental hazards but I thought I could live with that. So I added another mod to set all damage done to zero. The trainer still works for one hit kills though. After I added that mod to be able to save that adorable character, I think it broke its interactions with the trainer, because invulnerability stopped working for enemy hits, only for environmental hazards and if I get hit by an enemy, it resets. And there’s no narrative leading the way and what little there is is cryptic and somber because the devs have a tragedy fetish. I didn’t get to play it last night but I played it today and it’s just kinda hollow? Boring? At first, you have atmosphere and intrigue, but then it’s just go into a new area, find the map guy, buy the map and explore every nook and cranny until you get stuck and when you get stuck, you have to get a new ability or use some of these charms and when you get that new ability, you may get stuck at another point because the game wants you to go back to a specific point and use a specific ability to do something specific to progress.
